[sometime after sunset and before sunrise]
what ever happened to the perfect cliche of a tiny top-floor apartment in an old building in the middle of a big city? where is that outdated green neon sign outside of her window? why can she not blame her insomnia on its static buzz in the polluted glow of a surreal city? instead, her mind is fading away into the gray clouds above the mountain. the Lone Star lays below her feet, as the flickering lights of a border town shimmer in the excess glitter on her eyelids. there is a lot of world in those eyes. something is so incredibly soothing about the dry desert wind playing with her hair as her feet are hanging off the edge of the cliff. confusion takes a free fall and lands next to her worn out heels, somewhere below the darkness. capture the moment, freeze the frame, live forever.
she takes off in the bleak hours of the morning uncertainty; destination: unknown. the road ahead is a full on spectrum of emotions locked into a frozen moment. the mind frequency is interrupted by static. the scenery is covered in fog. the snowflakes refuse to melt on the windshield. the simplicity of this second is fading away in the rear view mirror, as the burning radio waves over-play some song she never heard before. artificial flavors of tomorrow disguise bitter aftertaste of the yesterday. she struggles to assemble what is left of the universe. here, in this car flying 100mph. now, as opposed to tomorrow when she’ll stumble walking against all odds. as a writer, one should never try to hide their weakness; so this is a masterfully crafted exposé of her regrets. but what is regret if not just another unfulfilled dream? love me, spoil me, break me down.
shimmering uncertainty. letters and words. one thousand emotions. abandoned and lost. silver snowflakes. metal skies. cloudy roads. forgotten lies. golden memories. expired maps. train wrecks. burning stars. never ending thread of scars…lost or found? bitter sunset. overpriced dreams. hidden reality. lurking behind the scenes…mindless.pointless.writing.rhyming..pause. collapse into sleep.
